In the old Chinese view of the cosmos, Fire and Water arose from the same source. Their union gave birth to the five elements, which in turn brought about the “ten thousand things” in the world. Water belongs to night and fire to day.

 

 

Fire & Water draws upon these ancient Chinese concepts.

 

 

The sixty foot high digital canvas, provides a contemporary counterpoint to the adjacent Dragon Gateway into Chinatown.

 

 

During the day the fire element scrolls upward. At night the red-orange light transforms into a flowing waterfall of blue.
