flow is a catalyst for change conceived through a realtime socio-technical ecosystem
flow straddles the physical and virtual worlds
It extends the concept of concurrent realities through a real-time portal simultaneously launched in Venice, Italy and Fort Lauderdale, USA. In this global ecosystem realtime data reflecting the ebb and flow of changing water levels is the creative force generating multi sensory immersive visuals and virtual environments in a new way of storytelling.
Like the cities it represents, flow is always changing
Realized in partnership with the European Cultural Centre, this project will use the latest advances in virtual reality and digital technology driven and experienced by two cities on opposite sides of the globe facing the repercussions of unprecedented climate change.
Fed by data streams, public interaction, and the ongoing fluctuations of the planet, it imagines a new form of engagement, fluid and responsive for a community of the future.
flow expands upon concepts from Light Crossings, Narduli Studio's generative light installations sited on 3 bridges spanning the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The urban scale light experience will be fueled by real-time Fort Lauderdale coastal tides data streams. The project is currently in the design phase, with completion scheduled in 2023 - 2024.

Light Crossings explores the promise of virtual environments' impact on the meaning of community.
Through real-world and virtual storytelling, flow extends these concepts to foster connection, engagement and equity.
flow is currently in development in collaboration with MAD Labs with an anticipated completion in March 2023 and public opening as part of the 6th edition of TIME SPACE EXISTENCE in Venice, Italy from May 20th to November 26th, in parallel to La Biennale Architettura. Immersive installations, virtual environments and public forums in Venice and Fort Lauderdale will create a space for this critical exchange. Open-source VR platforms will allow for universal access.
flow imagines a world in which virtual environments can foster connection and equity. An ever-changing cinematic narrative of place and time, it envelopes the viewer in experiences simultaneously real world and virtual. But flow is also a call to action. As global challenges force us to look for global solutions, it confronts notions of borders and accountability to invite critical discussion and participation. flow does not claim to be a solution, but to bring awareness, community and hope.
