                | Les Deux Cafes |

place: Hollywood CA

Les Deux Cafes is a cabaret/bar and a garden restaurant in the tradition of “Cafe des Artistes” in the heart of Hollywood. The project is a bricolage of an existing commercial building, a recycled craftsman house and a Provence garden, a combination well suited to its bohemian Hollywood context.

The existing brick building on the site was home to a famous Jazz club of the twenties and houses a new cabaret. The historic craftsman house was saved from demolition, relocated to the Les Deux Cafes site to provide indoor dining. The former parking lot was transformed into outdoor dining and  a working garden in the tradition of Provence, with herbs, flowers, citrus and fragrant vines.  The lush garden heightens the contrasting raw urban environment of Hollywood.

The project synthesizes various aspects of the traditions of Hollywood in a way that sponsors the type of vitality Hollywood is known for.
