THE BEAUTY AND CHANGEABILITY OF THE OKLAHOMA SKY RECONCEPTUALIZED THROUGH TECHNOLOGY

VIRTUAL SKY is a realtime LED light sculpture that spans the two large public atriums of the city’s new Convention Center

It evolves in tandem with the environment itself. It parallels the complexity of ongoing natural phenomena.
Anodized titanium forms create a palette inspired by the sky.
Within this field of color, 60,000 points of light connected to a stream of Open Data Portals trace weather patterns in realtime.
Programmable LED lights connected to a stream of information from Oklahoma City Open Data Portals trace the city’s climate data. This data is analyzed and translated into patterns of light to create real-time shifts in movement and color that reflect upon the natural world.
